In the pantheon of WWE pay-per-views, only one event — The Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania — outstrips SummerSlam in terms of prestige. Since SummerSlam first appeared on the WWE pay-per-view calendar in 1988, comparisons between it and big brother WrestleMania have only been natural. With The Biggest Party of the Summer celebrating its 26th installment on Aug. 18, now might be an appropriate time to draw parallels to WrestleMania once more by anointing a “Mr. SummerSlam.”
